Location: Pine Island, Goodhue County, Minnesota |
Situation: The Clementsons wanted to get a permit to construct a 70,000 head turkey growing facility.
Challenge: They were challenged by the “Pine Island Township Citizens” when this group filed a petition requiring an Environmental Review. While trying to meet all of the requirements, the Clementson’s Conditional Use Permit expired and they had to reapply for the permit. Opponents continued to use delay tactics with the township zoning process, delaying final consideration.
Outcome: The Clementson’s permit was finally granted. The Clementsons had to pay $2,500 for an Environmental Assessment Worksheet and had to pay for an air modeling study.

Location: Winona County
Situation: The Rowekamps wanted to expand their 200-cow dairy farm to 350 cows.
Challenge: They ran into difficulty through the permitting process within the county.
Outcome: The Rowekamps were successful in moving forward with their dairy expansion and the permit granted
